“echo, from the dawn” -an ongoing project
Whenever I look at sky, reflection of water, luminous light, and of perceive the cool or warm feelings as the air touches my skin….These natural phenomena help me access/enter a contemplative state as if the body doesn’t exist anymore. Those abstract concepts as Time/space, good/bad, right/wrong, delusion/reality, intimacy/distance would disappear. The repetitive layering of paint/wax build to a rich and lustrous surface. As crystalized silence.
For me, the color is not just color itself, but the purest energy which brings people emotions. I don’t quest for representational truth but guide my viewers to the pure inner experience transcending from the objective reality and of reach to the void space/realm/state, or whatever it could be called.
It’s an on-going project. What I’m talking about here is still very similar as what I’ve written in my statement in the graduate school. These “nonobjective”mysterious things, some sort of subtle hue, and ineffable feeling are always what I’m interested and never feel tired. It’s probably a kinda of destiny as Agnes Martin has ever mentioned: You’ll just have to obey. For me, my painting is never like a blank page.

tomato pasta salad recipe
Here's my very special recipe for pasta salad which I've tried to make for myself.
It's getting warmer and warmer. Flowers blooming, birds chirping, everyone should go out to enjoy the sunshine. The pasta salad would do for your lovely picnic with family members, significant ones...etc.
Now, we'll see how to make this salad.
As usual, you need to boil water first to cook the pasta. When you are waiting for the pasta to be cooked, you can prepare the ingredients. Broccoli, tomato, sweet peppers..., any vegetable you like, and chop them to pieces. This salad should be good to go with chicken, but I'm semi-vegetarian, therefore, I just leave it. About the sauce, you need olive oil, wine vinegar (yum), basil, salt, pepper, tomato sauce (you can get it from supermarket or make it by yourself).
When the pasta turn cool, put all things together. Then, the sundried tomato (yum).
It's almost ready to serve. At the very end, cheese!!!!The more, the better (I love cheese).
It's easy, it's fun, and it's quick. Yummy!
More recipes later~

pleasure
Olitski's painting
One of my favorite of favorites- Jules Olitski (1922-2007) immigrated to the United States in 1923, shortly after the political execution of his father Jevel Demikovsky in the Soviet Union. From 1940 to 1942 he studied at the National Academy of Design in New York while taking sculpture classes in the evenings at the Beaux-Arts Institute. Olitski made his name as one of the colour-field abstract painters, creating work using staining techniques and spray paint.
"Good art" Clem would say, "gives me a lift." I told him of Nicolas Poussin's remark that "the goal of art is delight." Clem nodded in agreement but said he preffered the word pleasure. Pleasure, he mentioned, is a value in itself. High art gave him pleasure.
- Jules Olitski, " Appreciation: Clement Greenberg in My Studio."
